Liability Insurance
It protects you if you accidentally cause harm to another person or their property during your trip.
What is it?
It is cover that protects you against third-party claims for property damage or injuries you cause unintentionally while travelling: in a hotel, a restaurant, during a recreational activity or when renting a vehicle, for example.
Who is it especially useful for?
- People who rent a car at their destination
- Adventurers doing recreational activities
- Travelling families
Covered situations
- Damage to other people's property: repair or replacement of accidentally damaged items
- Injuries to third parties: medical costs, compensation and legal defence
- Bail bonds required by foreign courts
- Voluntary liability cover, beyond what is legally required
Always check the maximum amount per claim and the annual aggregate of the plan you choose: these are the limits that set how much the cover will pay.
What is not covered
- Intentional damage
- High-risk activities, as set out in each policy
- Events specifically excluded in the contract
Requirements
Buy it at least 48 hours before your trip. Always keep your policy number and emergency contacts to hand, and if you need to report a claim, do so within the first 24 hours.
