Requirements and week limits
- It can usually be bought up to week 32 of pregnancy (some insurers set the limit at week 28-30)
- A medical certificate from your obstetrician is recommended or required
- Buy it at least 48 hours before the trip
- Multiple or high-risk pregnancies may have different limits
Most airlines also require medical clearance to fly from week 28: check your airline's requirement as well as the insurer's.
What is not covered
- Planned births within the expected due date, except in a medical emergency
- High-altitude destinations or destinations with endemic diseases, without prior medical approval
